Ancestors of Lou and Jim served in the Revolutionary War with Patriot units of Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia.

SWANN, Zephaniah: After moving back from Montgomery Co to Charles Co, he joined "The Flying Camp", a Maryland Militia unit which fought in the war. After the war he was given a land grant in then Rowan Co, North Carolina. He is buried on the grant, but there are no grave markers.

North Carolina flag North Carolina

JETTON, Lewis: Born 24 Jan 1749 in New Castle Co, Delaware, he served in the North Carolina Militia during the Revolutionary War. He died 21 Sep 1826 in Mecklenburg Co, North Carolina.

HUNT, Jonathan: Born in Hunterdon Co, New Jersey, he was an early settler of Rowan Co, North Carolina. Taking part in both the French and Indian War and the Revolutionary War, he attained the rank of colonel in the North Carolina Militia. He died in Rowan Co 5 Sep 1782.

WILEY, William: He served as a lieutenant in the North Carolina Militia in the Revolutionary War. He died Feb 1842 in Dickson Co, Tennessee. His name is inscribed on a memorial plaque on the courthouse lawn in Charlotte, Tennessee, which honors the Revolutionary War veterans who are buried in Dickson Co.

FIELDS, Nathaniel: He served as a private, Capt. Rose's Co, 6th Virginia Regiment of Continental Forces commanded by Lt Col James Hendricks. He enlisted 24 Nov 1776 and served until reported "deceased 1 April 1777" on a roll dated 16 June 1777.

DODD, Nathaniel: He was classified as a Patriot for his furnishing supplies to the Colonial forces.
