On Thursday, January 20, three of Nelson and Elizabeth WALKER's descendants had a very enjoyable mini-reunion in Houston, Texas. Each of us is descended from a different child. Roy Stringfellow, a descendant of John Vincent WALKER, was in Houston for a conference. He and Frances Pennington, who is descended from Delilah B. WALKER MOSS, told me about Roy's planned visit to Houston. Lou and I drove over and we all talked up a storm.
Roy provided documents concerning Nelson's service in the War of 1812. The documents identify Sarah WALKER as a daughter of Nelson. Sarah married John Terry CLEMENT. Their granddaughter, Nona CLEMENT PARKER, was living in Austin, Texas, when she applied for membership in the United States Daughters of 1812 in 1932. I hope to find Nona's descendants sometime, if any are still in the Austin area.
Thanks to Frances, we now have the name of Elizabeth WALKER's husband and her family name. Her husband was Nelson WALKER and her family name is WEST. Frances has graciously provided us with a copy of Elizabeth WALKER's will, from the Dickson County, TN, County Court Clerk's will books. You may view the will at Will of Elizabeth WEST WALKER.
