WILL OF ELIZABETH WEST WALKER

Dickson County, Tennessee Will No. 250, Will Book A 1805-1856

In the name of God Amen. I, Elizabeth Walker being in a low state of health, but of sound mind and disposing memory, do make and publish my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time heretofore made.

First - It is my will and that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of the first money that may come into the hands of my Executor hereinafter named.

2nd - I give and bequeath to my son-in-law James James, fifty acres of land where he now lives on the South end of my 284 1/2 acre tract, granted to me by the State of Tennessee on the 1st day of May 1847, but the said James James is to pay to my Executor fifty dollars and if my title to said land should not prove to be a good one, and the said James should be legally disposed of said land, then my said Executors shall refund the said fifty dollars.

3rd - It is my will that Martin Harbard shall have at the time he arrives of age my Horse Colt called Ball, and a good saddle and bridle, provided he continues to live with my son, John V. Walker and behave himself properly till he arrives of age.

4th - It is my Will and desire that my Daughter, Martha T. Walker have my mare Luck and her saddle and bridle also her bed and furniture.

5th - All the rest and residue of my property both real and personal I wish to be sold on a credit of twelve months, and after paying all the debts and expenses attendant upon winding up my Estate should there be any remaining. It is my will that Martha C. Reynolds, my grand daughter have ten dollars, and the balance to be equally divided between my following named children to wit: Branetta J. Work[sic][Cooke], Cynthia A. Cook, J. V. Walker, Martha Walker and P. N. James they having helped me make what little property I now own, the rest of my children all having left me many years ago.

Lastly - I do hereby nominate and appoint my kind and affectionate son John V. Walker my Executor to this my last Will and Testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 2nd day of August 1855.

State of Tennessee, Dickson County Court September Term 1855. This day was returned into open Court a paper writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Elizabeth Walker dec'd which was proven to be such by the oaths of Tho. McNeilly and Mary James Subscribing witnesses, and which was ordered to be Recorded.
